Few things are more important than helping and protecting vulnerable children and young people. The Government is committed to improving the child protection system, and is working with local leaders and professionals on a radical programme of reform. The overall aim of this work is to bring about long-term change to help vulnerable children, underpinned by three main principles:
- Placing greater trust and responsibility in skilled front line professionals to do their jobs;
- Reducing central Government prescription and unnecessary bureaucracy; and
- Building a system that is focused on the needs, views and experiences of vulnerable children.
This section contains information about how these aims will be met.
