Level 2: leading across an organisation
The National Professional Qualification for Senior Leadership (NPQSL) will give you the opportunity to develop the skills, knowledge and confidence you need to be a highly effective senior leader.
You can control the pace and focus of your study by completing the work in a timeframe that suits you, and by choosing elective modules that interest you the most.
Senior leaders with cross-school responsibilities, including experienced middle leaders, deputy heads, special educational needs co-ordinators (SENCOs) and advanced skills teachers, and other senior staff looking for further professional development but not aspiring to headship at this stage in their career.
Each module requires up to 50 hours of blended learning, typically consisting of:
The final assessment process will enable you to demonstrate that you can deliver successful and sustainable school improvement in your own school setting and that you can use the experience to reflect upon and improve your own leadership competencies. It comprises 2 assessed tasks drawn from your work where you lead across your school.
You will study with one of our licensees.
6–18 months, depending on your experience and how you manage your study around other priorities. The normal duration is 12 months.
Costs vary between licensees – you may be eligible for a scholarship.
If you have been unsuccessful at final assessment, you may wish to appeal against the judgement.
