This section contains information on the common transfer file (CTF). When pupils transfer schools it is important that their new school has, and acts on, information about previous performance. The requirement to send the common transfer file (CTF) from the old to the new school within 15 school days of a pupil ceasing to be registered at the old school ensures that specific information about the pupil is transferred with them.
The Education (Pupil Information) (England) Regulations 2005 describe the information that must be transferred and the method by which transfer must take place.
