Arrangements for admissions to schools in September 2011

The specifications, processes and guidance for the electronic transfer of data to enable the efficient and effective implementation of coordinated admissions are available to download from this page.

Documents available for download include

  • revised guidance notes for the 7 series files which bring together in one place the various documents and clarifications issued over the last three years and hold all of the information concerning the use and specification of these files;
  • a changes log detailing the changes to the files made from the previous version 6 series files;
  • a separate document detailing major changes included in the series 7 files.

You can now download notes on the specification and technical definition of the file to be sent to the DfE on percentages of parents obtaining a preferred secondary school in March 2011.

Guidance from the Department (including frequently asked questions and how to provide the data via a web form) will be available early in 2011.

XSD schema files for admissions transfer files (APT, ADT, AOT, ASL and ALT) version 7.1 for use in the 2010/11 admissions round

  • XSD schema and includes (XSD file types) which support the 7.1 series specification and a readme file to accompany the schema are available to download.
    • Note: these XSD files must be stored in a separate folder from those used in earlier years as some of the files have the same names but contain different definitions.
  • Example files which accompany the schema are also available to download. These are for admissions transfer files (APT, ADT, AOT, ASL and ALT) version 7.1 for use in the 2010/11 admissions round (resulting in admissions to schools from September 2011 and in year admissions during the academic year 2010).

ATF v7.1 example file and XSD schema files

The admissions transfer file (ATF – LA to maintained schools) version 7.1 is for use from March 2011 onwards, that is, at the end of the admissions round that results in admissions to schools from September 2011.

The ATF 7.1 example file and associated xsd have been amended. The amendment involved moving the <Admissions> container outside of the <SENhistory> container. The revised files available for download are:

  • an example file
  • the XSD schema file
  • a test file (checked and validated), created from the example file above.

As the ATF schema uses the CTF10 include files it must be stored with the CTF10 schema, and include files, and not with the other admission schemas.
